"In coming up with the name of the Hālau, I thought it would only be appropriate to represent the state of New Mexico." -Kellie
Ka Lā Kapu means "The Sacred Sun", which refers to the New Mexico Zia. I wanted to incorporate this symbol along with a Polynesian design, to represent both cultures being intertwined.
I want the people of New Mexico to be proud of learning and sharing a different culture within their state. In addition, we would like to give the Polynesian Community in New Mexico an opportunity to embrace, perpetuate and share their heritage.
