In coming up with the name of our Hālau, we thought it would only be appropriate to represent the state of New Mexico.
Ka Lā Kapu means "The Sacred Sun", which refers to the New Mexico Zia. We wanted to incorporate this symbol along with a Polynesian design, to represent both cultures being intertwined.
We want the people of New Mexico to be proud of learning and sharing a different culture within their state. In addition, we would like to give the Polynesian Community in New Mexico an opportunity to embrace, perpetuate and share their heritage.
